Christmas season is a great time to take your family out on the town to have a good time. What better way to spend Christmas time than to go to a Christmas Play? Going to a Christmas play would provide a family-friendly activity for all ages that would keep up the Christmas spirit. Especially during Christmas time is it great to pick a Christmas play near you, have a great time out with the family, and support a local play group.
Performances that are common around Christmas time are plays like the birth of Jesus or other stories that convey the true spirit of Christmas. I know that my family's favorite Christmas play is the Classic tale "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. My family and I can hardly resist attending a play around Christmas season, especially if it is A Christmas Carol!
One of the best things about a Christmas play is the set. The simple interior and simple exterior set are particularly good for a Christmas play. Because the stories are so well known the director of a Christmas play can draw more attention to the cast by making the set more simple and accentuating the cast more. The set, though, is so versatile that it can also be an intricate set and nothing would be taken away from the essence play. Its really up to the director to decide what to do with the cast members and set design; either way, making your way to a Christmas play during the Christmas season will always be a good choice.
Whether you enjoy going to a local performance where you might recognize a friend or two in the cast of the play, or whether you prefer a more experienced cast you are sure to find some kind of Christmas play around your home during Christmas time. As well as the simple set, another good thing about a Christmas play is that they are cast flexible. having a flexible cast means that you can go see the same Christmas play multiple times and each time you may find a whole different play experience because of the change in cast.
Those in your family who love music will also find many choices for a great performance. Not only can you find a great Christmas play to attend, but there are musical performances filled with local talent and Christmas spirit that they are sure to enjoy. Perhaps there is even a way to attend both a Christmas play and a musical performance around Christmas time as long as you get a set time for each. You can easily attend all of these performances.
Going to Christmas plays around Christmas time is not only a good activity for your loved ones, but it will also show your family the beauty of the theatrical arts. It may even inspire them to become involved in a play, to become part of the cast or a background part in set design or light and audio technician. And because of the Flexible Cast, they can be a part of a play without giving up their entire Christmas. If someone at a young age gets involved now in a play, they may continue in plays through out their life. Being a part of plays is a great extra-curricular activity for anyone and will teach them time management and provide them with future confidence.
