The primary operation of metal detectors is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The device contains one or more inductor coils that are used to interact with metallic items. Security metal detectors are designed to provide scanning in sensitive areas. Wand style metal detectors can be used solo or together with stationary metal detectors. Hand held metal detectors are less expensive, radiation free, easy to use, very sensitive, and need only light upkeep.
Recent metal detectors are usually, often fully automated, with microchip technology to let the user to select sensitivity, discrimination, track speed, threshold volume, notch filters, etc, and save these options in memory for future use.
You must find a high-volume and versatile device offering plentyof features. Consider the option to have the alert audible or silent by either providing an earpiece, utilizing vibration or simply bright LED lights to alert you to the existence of metallic objects. Another key concern is the length of your device and the distance of the magnetic field it can create. It is important to be able to process crowds fast without having to get too close or having to bend over too far to check shoes and footwear. Many weapons are made with steel but plenty are not. So, you also want a metal detector that can detect ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel weapons, tinfoil and other metal objects.
